Sugizo at my bookstore

So I was browsing my local B&N and who did I happen to see there?........

SUGIZO!!!! in all his glory on the cover of this visually arresting magazine called PopJNeo o.O; The magazine had really good shelf placement too, it was on the bottom front row. I flipped through and was overwhelmed by the "design" or I should say lack thereof, I looked at the staff listing and there's no actual person listed as Art Director, Creative Director or Designer in general, they're loads of writers and photographers credited though. I tried reading some of the sections but the engrish style writing threw me off. The magazine is based in Japan itself and has a lot of Japanese staff and some foreigners o.O; Its not really a J-music mag, it covers a lot of Japanese pop culture things such has fashion, anime, music, etc... but it needs a design staff asap lol. And it seems to be taking in a lot of advertising revenue so I think could probably afford to pay someone to give them cool design and be kinda like Giant Robot or something.

Anyway back to Sugizo, there's an interview and he gives a lot of long in-depth Sugizo-words-of-wisdom-on life-love-and-music answers, but what he had to say regarding Luna Sea was most interesting to me.

They asked him about One Night Deja-vu and he said at first he didn't wanna do it but felt he had a responsibility to fulfill and then he said, "I felt like I can finally listen to my old music and feel like it's good. A while ago, I felt like my skill level and sense back then was real bad; that's why I don't really talk about my past too much, I think it's just a plain embarrassment. I used to think LUNA SEA's music was a random play that I made up in my 20's, but listening to it now it sounds very loveable and actually good, (laughs)."

That's so weird to hear him say! LMAO specially considering how many younger jrock guitarists idealize him and steal his style and moves. But I think all artists tend to look back on their older work with a more critical eye, but its just interesting to hear an artist of his caliber admit to such feelings. But all Slaves think LS's music is some of the best created :D so to his pov on work he helped create is kinda mind blowing.

"There are a lot of musicians saying that LUNA SEA was an inspiration, but I never understood how we could be an inspiration. Now I feel like I can understand how they feel.
I felt that I had the responsibility to show the beauty of LUNA SEA to every one who were there to support us and to the people who've never seen us on stage before."

He says a lot of other interesting things regarding his career and time in LUNA SEA but I don't have time to type them up right now but go check out this magazine at your local Barnes & Noble or check them out online at popjneo.com Oh they also have a weirdly written live report of the LS reunion, oh and he said he wants to keep working on S.K.I.N, so maybe that band won't be trapped in the Yoshiki-limbo-of-insecurity like all this other projects ugh.

Also he's gonna be in the winter issue of Purple Sky but I haven't read that "interview" personally so I don't know what it's about exactly. Oh also Sugizo is going to be writing a column for PopJNeo in their future issues :O
