Kim Cattrall’s mom loves her nude scenes

del-1f.JPG

The mother of Sex & The City star Kim Cattrall loves her daughter’s racy role in the hit show - because she “looks fabulous” on-screen.

The star is famed for her portrayal of maneater Samantha Jones in the beloved series, and returns to the character in the upcoming big-screen extravaganza, Sex And The City: The Movie.

And the 51-year-old is comfortable showing her sexual side on-screen - and has the support of her adoring mum Shane, who thinks her daughter is an inspiration for older women everywhere.

She says, “Kim is a role model for 50-something women. Much has been made about her nudity in the film, but I think she looks fabulous.”

And proud mom Shane, 79, insists people who criticise Cattrall’s on-screen antics are just jealous of her well-preserved body.

She adds, “Anyone who knocks that is jealous. All this fuss about a bit of nudity is ridiculous.”

Anna Friel voted sexiest woman on TV

David Tennant's Time Lord in Doctor Who and Anna Friel's Chuck in Pushing Daisies have been named TV's sexiest male and female characters in a survey.

Tennant has nearly a quarter of viewers (23%) swooning in front of their screens, while one in five have the hots for Friel, a poll carried out by the Hallmark Channel revealed.

More than 1,600 TV viewers took part in the survey, which was aimed at examining the effects of sex appeal on keeping people hooked on their favourite TV shows. One in five respondents felt that actually seeing any sex distracted them from their enjoyment of the plot however.

The recipe for sexiness in a TV character was thought to include charisma (38%), looking great (36%) and not playing by the rules (12%).

A Hallmark Channel spokesman said: "Our ongoing research into what makes great gripping drama has revealed that a sexy male or female lead can make a real difference to the success of a new series.

"If you were creating the ideal on-screen TV couple it would arguably be David and Anna, but you wouldn't want to see them doing anything that distracts from the plot!"

Eva Longoria of Desperate Housewives fame followed Friel in the sexiest female TV character top 10, while Wentworth Miller, who plays Michael Scofield in Prison Break, was voted second sexiest male character after Tennant.

More than two thirds (68%) of male respondents admitted that they felt sex did not in fact get in the way of a good plot and nearly half (49%) put the looks of their favourite female leads well beyond being charismatic (26%) or not playing by the rules (10%).

Women put charisma (42%) above good looks (31%) and revealed that being good in a crisis (10%) was also an important factor in a lead male character's sex appeal.

In Northern Ireland and Wales, Miller was voted sexiest leading male (28%), while ex-EastEnder Michelle Ryan, who plays Jaime Summers in Bionic Woman, was voted sexiest leading female (23%).

TV Cop Busted!!

Dennis Farina, a former policeman who built a Hollywood career playing detectives, was arrested on Sunday at Los Angeles International Airport for carrying a loaded gun on his way to board a plane, police said.

Farina, 64, told police he brought the .22 caliber, semi-automatic pistol with him on a drive from Arizona to Los Angeles and forgot it was in his briefcase when he tried to pass through airport security, police said in a statement.

He was scheduled to take a United Airlines flight to his home in Chicago.

"Farina was very apologetic and cooperative with officers," police said. "However, he had no apparent authority to carry a concealed weapon at the time of his arrest."

The actor was initially booked on one misdemeanor count of carrying a loaded firearm and bail was set at $25,000. The charge was upgraded later to a felony after police confirmed the gun was not registered, and bail was raised to $35,000.

Farina was a Chicago police officer for nearly 20 years before taking up acting in the 1980s. He has starred in movies such as "Get Shorty" and "Sidewalks of New York" and is perhaps best known in the role of New York Detective Joe Fontana on the popular television crime series, "Law & Order."

The Tracks of My Years
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
No figure in popular music casts a greater shadow than Paul McCartney - a giant of British music for over four decades; the Beatle whose fame and talent never diminished, through eight albums with Wings, smash-hit duets with Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson, and unsurpassed solo success in both pop and classical music.

And so it's no surprise that Britain's number one artist should choose to give away his latest platinum-selling album, Memory Almost Full in the nation's favourite Sunday newspaper, the Mail On Sunday. You'll find the CD, free, inside next week's issue.

From the man who wrote Yesterday, Get Back and Penny Lane, it's a broad canvas of songs, some gently nostalgic and retrospective, others out-and-out rockers, and all blessed with the famous McCartney gift for melody.

It's got a little bit of everything - so we get Paul the storyteller, the romantic, the soul-baring seeker of truth, the multi-instrumentalist (he plays all the instruments on nearly every song) and the foot-stomping rock 'n' roller.

Here, in a taster for the CD, he talks us through the album track by track, revealing the inspirations behind the songs, the process he uses to compose lyrics and how he still thinks of the debt he owes to the people who inspired him - John Lennon, Elvis and Little Richard. It's yesterday once more...

I thought this was a really fascinating interview and a great look into his writing process. :) Hope you enjoy!

Jeff dishes on Survivor final 4 girls!

Before Sunday’s finale of Survivor: Micronesia airs on CBS (8 p.m. ET), PEOPLE checked in with the show’s host — and resident torch-snuffer — Jeff Probst to get his take on the final four, the great streak of tribal council blindsides and his new MySpace page. –Cynthia Wang

There are four women in the final, Amanda, Cirie, Parvati and Natalie. What is your take and did you expect them to be in the running for the million-dollar prize?
I’m not surprised Amanda’s in it. Overall, she has a very good understanding of how to play Survivor. She’s played two times in a row and has gone deep in the game both times. Cirie — not surprised at all! She is so much cagier. You saw this season that Cirie is so much smarter than she let on her first season. She played that adorable, fish-out-of-water, laughing and giggling all the time when she was on Panama: Exile Island. But this season, when she had it out with [Jonathan] Penner and said, “Listen. You think I don’t know what’s going on. I know.” She’s proven she knows how to play. Parvati, I can’t say she’s surprised me but I’m impressed with how Parvati’s played, particularly with one huge move, bringing Alexis and Natalie into the fold of her, Amanda and Cirie. That move was great because Parvati put herself in a great place of having Alexis and Natalie on one side and Amanda and Cirie on the other side and therefore, for my money, Parvati would be the one I get rid of next because she might have more votes. Next on the block would have to be Cirie because she is so likable. The dark horse is definitely Natalie. I don’t think Natalie can win this game but that might make her a great person to sit next to because she has been so evil.

Another 'Gossip Girl' Feud

Catfights are a-brewin' on the set of "Gossip Girl." But this time, it ain't the ladies who are clawing each other's eyes out.

The show's men, Chace Crawford, Penn Badgley and Ed Westwick, are battling over screen time and general media attention.

The problem? Audiences have gone gaga for Chace. The girls and the gays alike have brought the buzz his way, thanks to smoldering good looks and boyish charm.

"Penn was supposed to be the show's break-out star and now it is obviously Chace, and Penn doesn't like it," said one insider.

In last week's episode, Chace got no screen time at all while Penn was featured prominently.

But jealousy still reared its head Monday night at the Met's Costume Institute ball.

Both Penn and Chace walked the red carpet, but it was Chace who was mobbed - and invited to George Clooney's after-party at Bungalow 8. To make matters worse, the king and queen of Hollywood, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, gushed all over him.

"Tom and Katie went up to Chace to say how much they love him and the show. They didn't talk to any of the other cast members," our spy snitched. "Penn didn't get any love."

Parents and Tweens discuss Jonas Brothers and Miley Cyrus

As far as the thousands of concert-goers were concerned, if you went to KIIS-FM's Wango Tango concert Saturday, you were either there for the Jonas Brothers or Disney's reigning tween star, Miley Cyrus. Maybe even both.

The day's lineup also included: Snoop Dogg, The Dey, Shwayze, Cherish, Danity Kane and Flo-Rida, but the majority of the fans were young girls anywhere from 4 to 16 years old and it was obvious who the main draws were.

They came from as far away as San Francisco and Big Bear, clutching glittery posters and digital cameras.

"I can't breathe, I can't breathe! I need Jonas Brothers!" said Monessa Chahayed, 13, of North Hollywood. She and her 11-year old sister Linneya spent two hours the night before making giant, neon-colored posters declaring their love for the trio of heartthrob Jonas siblings: "I love Nick" and "Kevin is My Sunshine" and "Joe Please be Mine!" Oh, they also made a fourth poster, a hot pink one, for Miley.

Fans arrived as early as noon even though the show wasn't slated to start until 6:30 p.m., with the Jonas Brothers opening. Families toted lawn chairs, blankets and water for the outdoor event. Once their tickets were scanned, fans got to mill around in a fair-like environment with a Ferris wheel, food booths and even a red carpet-style line where they could have photos taken. Mostly, folks moved quickly into another line to get into the main stage area.

"I love Miley because she's cute," said 9-year-old Elaine Ramirez of Brea. "And she's a good singer. I hope I get her autograph."

Parents or adult chaperones of the younger concert-goers didn't seem at all bothered by the recent flak over the controversial photo in Vanity Fair of Cyrus – but mostly because they said their children weren't Internet or entertainment news savvy enough to know what happened.

"It's not an image that should have been portrayed as someone who has a younger audience base and is a role model,"
said Sarah Moore, who, with husband Scott, took the family to see Miley for daughter Emily's 8th birthday.

Even two weeks after the fallout, it was still a bit of a talker at Wango Tango.

"Oh, that was boring, what a joke," said Dana Davis of Huntington Beach, who brought her two daughters to Wango Tango. "We didn't care about it. For Pete's sake, it's not like she's Paris Hilton."

Pop Quiz: Robyn

Aidin Vaziri
Sunday, May 11, 2008

Retreating to her native Sweden after scoring a huge international hit with 1997's "Show Me Love," former teen sensation Robyn has spent the past decade doing everything in her power to avoid being like Britney Spears. She turned down a tour with the Backstreet Boys, ditched the majors to start her own label and found new inspiration in childhood heroes like the Notorious B.I.G. and Snoop Dogg. Now 29, the freshly shorn singer returns with a thumping self-titled album - her fourth - packed with Space Age love songs like "Robotboy" and "Konichiwa Bitches." Robyn plays Bimbo's 365 Club on Friday.

Q: What do you tell your barber?

A: I tell him I want to look like a boy.

Q: What kind of a boy?

A: You know, like the old-school Spanish, like, in the '40s with really simple men's cuts?

Q: Do I need to borrow a time machine to see what you're talking about?

A: Yeah, maybe. I've had the same hairdresser since '96.

Kirsten Dunst: Falling off the wagon?

Recently rehabbed Kirsten Dunst partied hard last week for her 26th birthday at Bowery Electric, the new rock bar that has taken over the space of creepy voyeur haven Remote Lounge.

We can't say for sure what the newly sober Dunst was consuming, but spies say the actress looked a lot worse for the
